Christina Spanou is a cross-disciplinary artist, set & costume designer and art educator.

She was born in 1986 in Paris and grew up in Athens. She studied music at Philippos Nakas conservatory and painting in Athens School of Fine Arts where she has completed her master’s degree.

In her artistic practice she is interested in gender issues, daily practices and social interaction. Her projects foreground experimentation in content and form through performances and installations.  She is a member of the artistic group “The Flower Girls Collective”. Her work has been included in exhibitions and cultural events like: «Gigi» – Athens Biennale 6, «Utopian Skirt» – ASFA BBQ, «Puerto Rico» – Athens Biennale 5 to 6, «Flower Girls Survival kit» – BETON7, «Weasel dance» – Goethe Institut etc.

As a scenic and costume designer she has worked in theatrical plays, operettas and performances in collaboration with the Greek National Opera, Michalis Kakoyiannis Foundation,Theatre 104,  Argos-Mycenae Festival etc.

In 2013 she cofounded “Orchistra ton Chomaton” a company which aims to familiarize children with art and music through experiential creative activities. Since July 2019 she works as an artistic associate of the Learning and Participation Department of the Greek National Opera.
